I have an interesting relationship with airports. We are like star-crossed lovers in the sense that many things have happened to me in airports that make me believe there's a sort of order to life. If you're attentive enough, the universe gives us a million little signs about where we are going. I'm sitting at the Calgary airport waiting for my flight to Europe. When I sat down, next to me on the seat in the waiting area was this book with a little note saying "Free Book" attached to it. Being a lover of books, I couldn't pass that offer up. Lo and behold, the book is titled "If On a Winter's Night a Traveller". I crack the binding open and see the note: Originally published in Italy under the title Se una notte d'inverno un viaggiatore...Of all the books that could befall me at random at the airport, it had to be this one. Not a German author, a French author, but an Italian one.
